We're really enjoying school and by that I mean it's been very challenging but we're starting to see results and changes in our hearts. Along with outreach and overviews of the Bible, we're getting a steady flow of the message of the "Fathers Heart" also known as Son-ship/the Spirit of adoption. We spend a good bit of time looking at our hearts, the things that have molded our behavior and beliefs about ourselves and God. In this school, the goal is not to identify behavior and then apply a program to manage it. In this school we're identifying issues in our lives such as fear, disappointment, shame, pride etc and inviting Holy Spirit to reveal the events in our lives that shaped these issues or beliefs and get them healed.
Replacing ungodly beliefs with Godly beliefs rooted in what God says about us.
What we're experiencing is a process of removing layer after layer while pouring in truth and learning to rest in God's perfect fatherly love and not to strive in any way to gain value. Not performing, not comparing, simply for the first time to let Him love us because we're alive and He made us, no other reason.
It's all too common to be "born again" but manage every aspect of our life in our own strength. We manage our fears, ambitions, addictions, failures, hopes and dreams and assume that this is somehow just the way it is. I know because I've spent a lifetime doing it.
The goal isn't perfection, it's the "final resting place" of knowing in my heart that He loves me and nothing else matters. Without having the "Central Event" as I've heard it called, we live our lives like I described earlier, managing all the unresolved issues of our heart. It's not a matter of Salvation, it's a matter of "abundant life". There's nothing else for me now than to get this and live there. I've lived too long like an orphan, it's time to be a son.
We're heading home for the weekend with the parents which is always fun and relaxing. I'll be attending Octoberfest in Charlotte with my brother and friends which is also a "beer fest". 300+ beer vendors will be giving samples of their creations which are free once you buy a ticket. Can't wait!

Having a great time!

This is the book I'm currently reading. I didn't know what to expect but after reading the first chapter I knew it was right on time.
What caught my attention was the idea that when wanting to change things about yourself, the best way is to TRAIN and not to TRY. Ever tried to change a characteristic or behavior or get rid of it all together? How did that work out for you? They take a lot of time and personal discipline which most people can't manage to keep up with for the time it takes to make the change.
So, when reading about the common practice of scripture meditation (yes, meditating on scripture is historically taught and found in scripture as a "common" practice in the Christian faith) I was confronted with the idea of training your mind and heart with meditation in the Word and as the bible teaches, letting the effect of that meditation be transformation of our heart and mind. I was caught off guard at how simple that equation worked and how easy it was to understand why it's so hard to change on our own by "trying".
